Garrett proposed to Marissa during the spring at the top of Lookout Mountain in Golden, Colorado. As an avid cyclist who has ridden up the mountain many times, it was the perfect and meaningful location for him. He also knew she wouldn't be suspicious if he suggested going to Lookout Mountain together.

Garrett’s main priorities were a mountain view for the proposal, keeping the moment a surprise, and having a relatively private experience with fewer people around. Since Lookout Mountain can be busier on weekends, we planned the proposal for an early evening on a weekday.
To keep the proposal a surprise, Garrett used his birthday as a decoy, planning a “celebration dinner” in Golden afterward. We arrived at the lookout beforehand, and I blended in as a casual visitor until Garrett dropped to one knee.

Because Marissa was wearing heels, Garrett didn’t want a long or steep hike, making the roadside lookout area ideal. After the proposal, we captured a few couple portraits in the surrounding area. Since it was spring and slightly chilly, they both wore jackets for some photos, and I brought hand warmers to keep them comfortable between shots.
